the civil war happened because the south had slaves, the north didn't, and the north thought that it was wrong.

i'm sure there were other reasons... but that's what they taught us in school.

so once the north won the war, and the slaves were freed - they didnt want anything to do with helping them. they despised the very people they fought so hard to free from hardship and unfairness.

how does that make sense??
